Location:

The Presumpscot River watershed is located in Cumberland and York counties. It includes parts of the towns of Buxton, Cumberland, Falmouth, Gorham, Gray, North Yarmouth, Portland, Raymond, Standish, Westbrook, Windham, and Yarmouth.

Size:

The Presumpscot River watershed covers 205 square miles.

Population:

Approximately 66,000 people live in the Presumpscot River watershed.

Impervious Surfaces:

Impervious surfaces are those surfaces in the landscape that cannot infiltrate rainfall, such as rooftops, pavement, sidewalks, driveways and compacted earth. Impervious surface areas of 10% or greater are often correlated with reduced water quality. Approximately 7% of the Presumpscot River watershed, more than 9,500 acres (15 sq.mi.) of overall area, is comprised of impervious surfaces.
