Inkhorn Brook Watershed
Location:
The Inkhorn Brook watershed is located in the River Road / Anderson Road area of Windham and Westbrook.
Size:
Inkhorn Brook watershed is one of the smallest watersheds in the Presumpscot River watershed system. At approximately 3.9 square miles, it makes up 2% of the Presumpscot River watershed system.
Population:
The population of the Inkhorn Brook sub-watershed is a just over 500 - only 1% of the population in the Presumpscot River watershed system.
Impervious Surfaces:
Impervious surfaces are those surfaces in the landscape that cannot infiltrate rainfall, such as rooftops, pavement, sidewalks, driveways and compacted earth. Impervious surface areas of 10% or greater are often correlated with reduced water quality. Approximately 4% of the Inkhorn Brook watershed, nearly 100 acres, is comprised of impervious surfaces.
