Little River / Tannery Brook Watershed
Location:
The Gorham / Buxton town line runs right through the middle of the Little River / Tannery Brook watershed.
Size:
Little River / Tannery Brook watershed is one of the largest sub-watersheds in the Presumpscot River watershed system. At approximately 30 Square miles, it makes up 14% of the Presumpscot River watershed system
Population:
The population of the Little River / Tannery Brook sub-watershed is a just over 7,000, or approximately 11% of the population in the Presumpscot River watershed system.
Impervious Surfaces:
Impervious surfaces are those surfaces in the landscape that cannot infiltrate rainfall, such as rooftops, pavement, sidewalks, driveways and compacted earth. Impervious surface areas of 10% or greater are often correlated with reduced water quality. Approximately 6% of the Little River / Tannery Brook watershed, more than 1,100 acres, is comprised of impervious surfaces.
